This would be the first thing I would plant in it. What beats deep red wonderful garden tomatoes? After eating them here at Tom and Sarah's for the last few weeks, I don't know If I could ever go buy the bland, gassed tomatoes from the grocery store. It's almost better to not have any! (If I can be so bold?)

This is a Genovese or Constoluto Tomato. I love how it looks like a pumpkin with the creases! But even more wonderful is eating it in a salad or on my sandwich. I remember in youth (sigh) eating garden fresh tomatoes that my dad grew. I can't help it, it's deep in my heritage:) Besides it saves money!

One of the reasons my parents chose to buy a house in cow/hick town of Rio Linda when we first moved to this country is so they could plant and grow their own produce because after first experiencing Lucky (remember that grocery store?) produce they thought that there's not way they would survive. HA! So, I've been pretty much raised and spoiled on homegrown EVERYTHING. Right now my mom has the juiciest, biggest, most amazing peaches you can imagine. They're sweet as candy.
And that's why they also have chickens and cows and goats; to have their own milk and make cheese. I swore I'll never like it again when I "grow up and get married" but now I can't wait to get our house so I can have a big ol vegetable garden.
