buried in cookies...

Hello Everyone!

So the other day I was washing dishes and I suddenly entered a new stage of parenthood. Arwyn was in the walker that Daddy had just put together for her, since she seems to be more interested in learning how to walk than sit. I looked over to see that she had walked her way across the kitchen to the dining table and was reaching for the tablecloth. Now this girl’s got a grip so I wasn’t sure if she could manage to pull the table full of cookies that I had just baked for the holidays down on top of her head. So I raced over to push them to the other side of the table and test the tablecloth myself.

And it hit me. Here comes the beginning of child proofing the house! Now I have got to vacuum the hard wood floors more often, pick up all the “small chokable” items, plug all the outlets, raise all the breakables, throw away the old ant traps, and make sure the table top is free from items that could be yanked off in an instant. I am sure people go shouting these wise things from the rooftops of child filled homes on a regular basis, but you know there is just nothing like the experience itself.

Arwyn and I just got over a cold, that wasn’t too bad. Today she took two 2-hour naps, which I am hoping is a new trend. The first one was nice to have some “me” time and the second one I slept with her. That was nice also. She is getting great at our little bedtime routine: eat, bath, put pj’s on while she wriggles all over to grab the stuffed animals at her head, snack, prayer, lights out. She goes down without a fuss. We also wind up this little musical lamb that plays “ Jesus loves me” that a friend, Kenny Martin, gave her. His late wife, Lisa Martin is who one of Arwyn’s middle names is named after. He said she used to give the little lambs as presents to babies. So he searched high and low to find one. Arwyn falls asleep to it every night.

She is awesome at rolling over and back again, which is the part that she really struggled with for awhile. She can sit for about 10 seconds at a time. She can even “walk” herself around in her walker. She is a pro at grabbing things now and every time we hold her and we have something in our hands she immediately goes for it.

Last night we decided that she probably can’t chaperone our dates much longer. We were out at a nice restaurant with some friends Josiah and I play soccer with and she was lunging for the silverware, tablecloth, napkin, plates, and calamari. It’s a good thing she is great with sitters. Speaking of sitters… our friends Joe and Alicia Evans watched her again (last time was the King’s game). But this time they really proved they were wild and up for a random time. We went to see “ Narnia” at the first show on Friday (12:01 am). We didn’t pick her up till 2:45 am. It was fun, but yes… we had to drink a lot of caffeine to keep our “old” selves up that late.

Well, we are getting ready for our trip to AZ to spend Christmas and a fam reunion with J’s family. Arwyn’s first trip to AZ!

my new beverage of choice

Arwyn is following after the Bartlett Family (heidi's) in her favorite soft drink ever! When grandpa tried to take it back she grabbed it from his hands. Sorry Watters Family, no addition to the Dr. Pepper clan:( Posted by Picasa

pumkin princess...

We had a good thanksgiving with my parents and Uncle and his two kids. My Cousin Shawn has a girlfriend that is deaf, and i got to practice or remember all my sign from college that I took, with her. It was fun, i was surprised how fast it returned. Arwyn started eating pumkin and she even tasted avocado when I had lunch with Glenda , who leads the women's ministries at our church. She is currently sleeping through the night. Its been going on 2 nights that she has gone the first 7 hours without waking and crying.

Last night Josiah and I went to the Kings game ( we got free tickets from a friends boss). Alicia and Joe in our bible study watched her, and we went to Bucadibeppo. We had lots f yummy garlic, in fact we are still tasting it. Our seats at the game where about 6 rows form the court. That was really cool. And the game was actually pretty exiting too, they were neck and neck the whole way and then in the last 2 sec the Kings made the winning basket 104 -102. When we returned to our little punkin eater we heard that she held her bottle all by herself ( first-time). She even got big kisses on the face by their dog "Boss", who is a black lab mix. That was her first doggy encounter. It was fun for Joe and Alicia to watch her cause they are expecting their first in march. And Josiah and I enjoyed our night out alone.

Arwyn has mastered her rolling over on her tummy, her tantrums, and her new noise that is more like a screech.

Sleeping through the night!

Well... not yet! But we started working on it three nights ago and we are almost there! Its not as hard as I thought it would be and my visoion of restfullness is becoming clearer.

Today While I was making cookies with a little neighbor girl, Arwyn kept rolling over repeatedly. She usually does it maybe once or twice, but she did it about 7 or 8 times. She turned back on her back 2x but the rest of thetime she needed help. But she is practicing hard!

Can you believe shortening goes bad... but there is no expiration date on it?! We ruined 2 batches of cookies till we figured out what it was. I still have the nasty taste in my mouth, after eating a few good peanut butter cookies and some soda! YuK!

just the 3 of us

our family at church Posted by Picasa

4 and a half months ago...

I came into the world! Don't I look so cuddly?

The interesting thing about this picture is that moms think it is so precious and non moms think its disgusting. My very first thought when she came out- "she doesn't look like either one of us!"
the very first thing out of my mouth- " there really was a baby in there!"

Now... it is so obvious to Josiah and I how much she looks like both of us. Everyone has their opinion but of course parents know best! When she is sleeping she looks like Josiah, and when someone is holding her and i am across the room i glance over and think "Wow! what a mini-me!"

Arwyn's latest skillz...

things i have mastered:

- grabbing daddys goatee
- grabbing and holding my pacifier and trying to put it in my mouth
- ...while holding my foot
- grabbing things in general
- whispering
- growling
- talking up a storm when both parents are present
- crunches
- shaking my head "no" really fast
- diving backwards and veiwing the world upside down
- talking with my fist in my mouth
- running constant commentary while others talk to me
......

i'm on my way to sitting up all by myself!

http://searsportrait.com

we just got arwyn's 4 month photos ( a little late) but you can go to this website and enter the online session id : 41538a100579312 and enter the online session password: TFM3P3WF2. You should be able to view the proofs and for the first 48 hours you can purchase a sheet of pics for only 7.99 after that its 14.99. Last time i checked they hadnt posted it yet so i am guessing the 48 hours starts after they post it. enjoy!

Back in September...

We went to the beach for my 25th birthday. Although the weather was gloomy it really was nice! It was arwyns first beach experience and i am glad that she slept through most of it ( probably cause she was so tightly bundled) because she wont remember how all the pesky seagulls wanted to eat her. Another successful "potential traumatic experience" denied1;)
