raising einstein

I think many people would agree that one of malachi's greatest physical attributes is his crazy, curly hair. I have never cut it. When its wet it spirals up just the way I love it.

We had some fun with a brush and hairspray in this photoshoot. I love all his faces!

Boom!

The kids loved it until Daddy set off a piccalo pete and the shreaks turned to screams, BEDTIME!

Then we had some fun of our own... Sparklers have always been my favorite. Can you see the "W" ? can you guess what that stands for?

raising pyros

You really can't tell what he is doing, but they were throwing the little firecrackers that snap when they hit the ground. And in the bottom pic you can see that the only thing coming out of their mouths was "please!" (meaning more, more , more).

capturing beauty

On the 4th of july i was sitting in a chair watching Arwyn playing in my parents backyard. I was so struck by her beauty and innocence, and the preciousness of her. I tried to capture it with these pictures but they just don't justice to the moment. Isn't it interesting, our longing to freeze those moments that catch us by surprise or literally take our breath away? In appreciating this moment to watch and enjoy her, I was suddenly battling with her future. Going back to that post about what I had been learning lately, What suffering and trials await her? I was overwhelmed with the wishing that she would be able to stay in this innocent beautiful and simple state. It was bittersweet.

spooner

Yeah! Malachi can spoon food into his mouth without turning it over just before it gets there. One of the many battles as a mom I have faced is the "letting go" to let them learn and practice things, or doing it myself because its cleaner or faster. At times I have had to force myself to let them do it, because i really dont want to clean up the big mess, change their clothes, or wait 15 minutes for the shoes to get on. But how will they learn?

The water cakes.

Alanda and I's cake creations for the party. Initially they were intended for just arwyn and brady to enjoy, but all the kids ended up "diggging in" with their hands and it was a hilarious disaster!

Making Cupcakes!!!

On her actual birthday, Arwyn and I made her cupcakes, that she was going to deliver to friends close by. That actally didnt end up happening cause the days surrounding where so chaotic with events. We wanted her to appreciate the joy of giving not just recieving on this day, and she was very excited about it, so hopefully it stuck.

Arwyn turned three!

There is so much too catch up on! My friend Alanda and I had a joint birthday party for Arwyn and her friend Brady who was born just two weeks before her. It was CRAZY! Wtaer stuff EVERYWHERE! slides, pools, squirters etc...It was really just so much fun having so many people show up and show there love and support for our kids. We can't beleive what a great group of people that truly love and cherish our little ones. That was the best part of it all. Haniging out with the ones we love and and they love our kids. And arwyn was totally blessed with overwhelming amount of gifts and such fun and nice ones. I think was a bit overwhelming for her to open gift after gift. And i wasnt too excited about the her possibly getting an attitude of entitlement or wrapped up in that being the most important part of her birthday. But I think since we didnt really even talk about them much, and the exciting part for us that we kept telling her about before th eparty was all the people that are coming to enjoy her and her them. The social person that she is, i think that would have been her highlight anyways. Thank you to all who came and celebrated her!
