Today was the much anticipated, talked about day! I remember when Arwyn was born Josiah and I had our first real disagreement. Should we pierce her ears as a baby? My answer, OF COURSE NOT! To me piercing ears came after makeup, would you put lipstick and mascara on your newborn? Then why on earth would you pierce her ears? But Josiah grew up in Latin America where the boys are circumcised at birth and the girls ears are pierced. It's actually in the Hospital! It was nice and awkward when his family were visiting for her birth and asking if we would do it. We were still in the midst of arguing about it.
Well, our compromise was that we would wait and give her the choice when she was ready and He would take her as a special Daddy daughter date. That day came. I know your thinking that's not a compromise, you won. But it is because back then I didn't think she should get it till AFTER makeup, and let me tell you makeup is far off, as well as perfume! SHEESH she doesn't even have a bra yet, although she has been eyeing them in the store...
She asked me if it was going to hurt, and just like my mom did with me and my first papsmire, I told her the truth: It would at first but it would be over soon and she would be happy to have them. I wish my mom would have lied to me, though. Look at those sad eyes! She can barely break out a smile for the camera:( But by the time she got home to me and Malachi she was A-OK! AND daddy let her ride in the front of the car there and back. All the sudden I feel like growing up is in full speed. I was excited for her when she came home but looking at those tiny little sparkly flowers in her ears, I still had a twinge that she was still too young to have them... or maybe the twinge was that she is growing up too fast...
As they were leaving the mall she asked Dad when she could get her nose pierced!

Where did he take her? The place itself looks a bit intimidating!
She looks so cute! I am not showing this post to Reese just yet :)
I miss that Arwyn girl!!
I agree with you, Heidi. I just think of it as an uneccessary pain to put a child through, though.I've had my ears redone a few times because I was young and did not take good enough care of them so they got infected and I had to let them heal. So, my stance is to wait until Emma is old enough to adequately take care of them.
Kelli- he took her to the mall to Piercing Pagoda, but it does look kind clinical huh? Well the pain is a distant memory and the fun of caring for her new responsibility is all she wants to do! Hey, this summer when we take the kids to Disney land you could send Reese with us and she could come home with pierced ears! That's how I got mine!
She looks beautiful! And make-up is still very far in the distant future. Me & all my friends had ours pierced as little ones, and no one dare put on make up until High School. And what's more none of us remember any trauma. Now she and ava can trade when they see each other : ) Miss you guys.
